ASTRONAUTS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE SUDOKU PUZZLES

Congress Questions Limited Ambition of Discovery's Mission

Moments after the space shuttle Discovery landed yesterday, shuttle astronauts pronounced their mission a success, including the completion of several books of Sudoku puzzles while on board. In a press briefing after their return to Earth, the Discovery crew said that a key part of their mission was to determine the effect of zero gravity on humans who were attempting to do Sudoku puzzles. "On Earth, it usually takes me around fifteen to thirty minutes to complete a Sudoku puzzle," said astronaut Steve Frick. "The good news is I was able to do it in about the same amount of time, except for when the pencil floated out of my hand."

In addition to the Sudoku experiment, the shuttle astronauts said that they logged "many hours" playing Xbox while on board the Discovery.

This truly is a golden age for mankind.

You are missed, Vince.

I had too much to say, with the usual lack of words, and I still do. There's enough on the internet already. I know how I feel.

Steve Kimock had some poignant reflections on the loss of his friends Ramrod and Vince

Vince's friend, John Perry Barlow shares his feelings.

The story here makes me sad. It always has. Every time I saw Vince though, playing, he was having the time of his life and his shows never suffered from those downer moments where things plod embarrasingly or from dumbed down arrangements. For me, the times I saw Vince's bands and him with the Mickey Hart Band were the most fun of any of the post GD projects.

One of Vince Welnick's last posts to his website's forums.
A lot of us wanted that for you, too, Vince.

I got to speak briefly with Vince at Pine Knob in Michigan in the summer of '91. Me and a friend were lurking around by the stage right after doors opened, so a long time before the show. We see Bruce and Vince and wave and they come over. Bruce walks up and my friend says "Hi Bruce". Vince walks up and says "Hi, I'm Vince, I'm the new guy." and we all totally cracked up. I got to talk to the guy a little more at length at the House of Blues in Chicago for Missing Man Formation. I drove down from Minneapolis myself and after the show Vince chatted with me and two other guys who were big Tubes fans for a good long time before giving us all a hug and taking off. He clearly appreciated being able to do what he did, and I appreciate it right back.

arrested development, again, thank you.

I got a little choked up just now looking at these photos from the Arrested Development estate sale by unsureshot on flickr.

Season Premiere!

Have you been bumming because all your favorite shows are packing it up for the summer already?  Well, put down the Prozac and pick up your miniature American flag and get ready to tune in tonight for the premiere of what will not only undoubtedly be the runaway hit of the summer, but a classic for years to come; RACIST NATION!

If you haven't seen it, it's new to you!

And mommies and daddies, after the show, stick around for the Adults-Only special; SCREWING OLDIES.

With "surprise" special events like fag-bashing, history revising, general bar lowering, plus the fabulous July 4th picnic, it's bound to be a summer to remember.  Tune in tonight!
